My personal reflections after my parents' visit. An episode not only for immigrant families but for all of us who want to see that strong and sincere connection between our children and their grandparents.
The relationship between kids and grandparents is, like any other, complex and there are many things out of our hands, but there are some others that we can help with. On this episode, I talk about some that I believe helped reinforce that connection between my kids and my parents over the last 4 weeks.
Sometimes we think that putting pressure, manipulating or forcing displays of affection is what we have to do to promote moments of quality and connection when it is really the opposite.
These weeks we have seen how the relationship between them has become stronger and more sincere by simply letting things flow naturally, giving context to both parties and fostering many simple moments, sharing with the family, helping each other, getting to know each other, and telling stories.
