Connection First
#21 Connection and Acceptance in Autism
I had the honor to interview Natalia Sánchez de León recently. Natalia is an autism consultant; she has a school for parents of neurodiverse kids and is the author of a children's book about autism.
Natalia is the mother of an autistic child, Tavi, and since his diagnosis, she has been committed to learning and supporting other families and creating awareness around autism in her Instagram community, crecer_contigo.
I invited her to my podcast to talk about connecting with autistic children, and I loved learning more about Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), a family-based, natural intervention that addresses the core symptoms of autism by focusing on building social and emotional skills.
This was a conversation that gave me so much hope for neurodiverse kids and the new strategies to help them develop social and emotional skills, focusing on family connection and understanding and empathy towards autistic children.
Any family, with neurodiverse kids or not, can benefit from listening to Natalia's insights and experience.
Enjoy!
